RX8 Wins At French Nats R4
Race report by Leo Arnold | |
The round 4 of the 1/8 french nats was held in La Ferriere in the west part of France. This is one of the most difficult tracks I ever drove due to its fast and technical corners combined with a narrow width. |
| |
In the qualification, Anthony Abisset took the pole followed by Arnaud Mathieu, in 3rd was the local driver Benjamin Brasset and I took the 4th spot. |
| |
In the semi B, I immediately took the lead after 1 lap and won this semi. In the semi A, Anthony Abisset won the race and will start 1 for the finals separated by only 1 second on me after 20 min. |
| |
For the final I decided to make the fuel stop at 5th min and to not change the tires for the 45min race. After the start, Abisset quickly took 5-6 seconds on me due to my big tires. After 15min I was able to close the gap tenth by tenth to finally being less than 1 second behind him just before his tire change. So I took the lead at this moment to never leave until the end. I was the only driver who not change the tires and this strategy paid off. This was possible with a very easy to drive car to not make mistake and to not stress the tires too much. |
